Weekly Summary 9/27/15-10/3/15 - 5 days to Chicago!

5 days to Chicago Marathon
Last week I didn't take any days off, but continued to cut back mileage again, while dialing in on my marathon goal pace of 6:29. I did manage to finally get to the track at Newington High School where some of my Team HMF team mates work out every Tuesday night. I didn't want to push it too much this close to the race, but it felt good to get in some fast flat miles.

This week is all about rest and recovery. Three easy Sunday, five at goal pace yesterday and rested today. Tomorrow will be an easy 7 miler, and the rest of the week will be light miles and rest leading up to the race on Sunday. I continue to deal with a sore left heel. It seems to be slightly better since I've backed off the miles a bit, but it's still giving me problems and it's an injury I haven't dealt with previously. I haven't missed a run because of it, but it is a distraction that I hope does not create issues on race day. If I were smart I would have gone to the doctor to get a proper diagnosis, but I know there is little a doctor could tell me at this point that would prevent me from racing.

Tuesday - 6 miles at track including 3 x mile @ 6:29, 2 X 800 @ 5:55
Wednesday - 5 miles @ 7:00
Thursday - 7 miles @ 6:29
Friday - 3 miles easy
Saturday - 12 miles @ 7:30 
Weekly total:  41 miles
